Week 17

I'm leaving Lopez

yup, you heard me. Im leaving...

I am going to ride the bus for 9 hours to encarnacion, and hop the border to argentina. And i will go to a medium sized town called Oberà. Elder Acevedo says its really pretty and there are a lot of hills. It is also an independent branch. So thats like having a ward thats not part of a stake. Strange.

Like 10 days ago, we contacted a 20ish year old girl, and tlaked to her. She didnt sound very interested, and i think she just talked to us because she was bore.d But she said we could come back, so we set up another time. a couple days later, we went back and talked with her boyfriend. And he was one of the ones who told us that it was the most logical religion he had ever heard of. We gave him the restoration pamphlet. We came back on tuesday, and we talked with the girl again. She said that she talked with her boyfriend about us coming. And she broght out the pamphlet. We talked about it, and we had to leave. We asked her if she could pray to end the lesson. She said no. Elder Acevedo asked if she had already prayed. She said yes. Then we asked if she recieved an answer. She said yes.We asked how. She said that she read the pamphlet, and prayed and asked if joseph smith was a prophet, and that she felt ``the wirdest felling... nothing she had ever felt before`` we asked if she thought it was an answer from God. She said yes. We then set up a date for baptism, and she said she wanted to come to church.

So we were cheering, walking away, and one of the members drove up to us, and asked us if we wanted to eat lunch at their house. Uhh... YES. So we were walking away, cheering about THAT, then some guy pulled up to us on his motorcycle and said ``hola elderes!`` That DOES NOT happen in <lopez! turns out he lives in the town over, and has been a member for 6 years. What in the world. So well see what happens with that.

Then we went over to the girls house who recieved an answer to her prayers. She met us outside. We talked and joked for a little bit. Then we asked if we could share something with her. She said no. She said she didnt want to change her religion. Elder Acevedo asked if her prayer wasa a lie. She siad no, but she doesnt want to meet with us anymore. It was the most depressing thing i have ever heard in my life. Not sure what happened there.

We also met a 14 year old kid. He was hanging out with a bunch of other kids who we went up to and taught a lesson to. They were all pretty smart, and remember ed everything we said. We asked if we could meet there again, and have a nother lesson. All of the kids said MAYBE, but this kid said ``why dont you come to my houseÇ¿!`` uh.... YES. So we did. And he loved it. He said he was trying to convince all of his friends to come to church. And he actually came to church. He said he loves it when we come over because hes never heard of any of this sturff before. Awesome. awesome kid.ç

So thats what has happened. I hope i left lopez a little better than i found it, but im not sure if thats possible. I love this place. I love the gospedl. I love you

have a nice day

Elder Emil
